“Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a great deal to love a leaf. It’s ordinary to love the beautiful, but it’s beautiful to love the ordinary.”

Regarding, (in just my own personal opinion), some humor in poor taste regarding Whitney Houston’s death: A passage from Jeff Bezos’ commencement speech, “My grandfather looked at me, and after a bit of silence, he gently and calmly said, “Jeff, one day you’ll understand that it’s harder to be kind than clever.”
What I want to talk to you about today is the difference between gifts and choices. Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy — they’re given after all. Choices can be hard. You can seduce yourself with your gifts if you’re not careful, and if you do, it’ll probably be to the detriment of your choices.”
I can’t help but thinking today, that beneath the celebrity, beneath the battle with addiction, she was simply someone’s daughter and a young girl’s mother. *I* thought she was talented. She certainly brought joy to my life at different times. I don’t want to glorify or ignore the issues, but I just choose to focus on remembering a once beautiful spirit and what might have been.
